Bath time

I finally figured out how to give the girls a bath at the same time! Since Violet is not sitting up on her own yet, I've been giving her a bath on top of the counter in her baby bath while Viv takes one in the tub. However, I knew it would be easier if they were together. Today and just put her baby bath tub in the big bath tub and filled them both with water. They both loved it! Here are some pics of their first bath together. I love when I finally figure something out. Even if it's only how to give a bath.

6 Month Appt. and First Food!

Today we went for Violet's 6 month appt. She's 15.4 lbs (40%) and is 27 inches long (90%). Tall and thin! My girls are gonna be taller than me in no time! Today after the appt. and the go ahead from the doc, I stopped by Target to get some sweet potatoes to make for her first real food. I decided to make her baby food at home this time rather than buying the store bought kind. Soooo much cheaper and I get to use my handy dandy food processor that I got for Christmas!

Here's her first bite, she looks a little unsure.Even more unsure once she started swallowing it.
Wait a second... she liked it! Yay! But she won't forget her good friend milk.
I can't believe she's already to this point, it's going too fast!

It's a big day!

Today is Violet's 6 month birthday! Time is flying and I cannot believe it's already been six months! Here are her 6 month pics that I did yesterday. And as most photoshoots with her go, it ended in tears! She was hungry and tired of me in her face!On another exciting note, one of my photos made it to the photography section of Pioneer Woman's website! I was soooo excited to see it there. I always enter her photo contests and making it to her site was one of my goals! The theme is sunsets and this photo was taken while we were in Ireland in November. This was taken in Belfast the night that we got to Ireland. She'll post the winners in a couple of days probably. To see it on her site go to www.thepioneerwoman.com/photography.

Oh, and Matt's song was featured on MTV's Real World last night. We were dancing around the room when it came on. What an accomplishment!
I'm proud of you Matty!

I dont have a title

I dont have a title, so there! Just some pics of the girls of course. This is how Violet looks most of the time, but usually with a big smile!

Since she refuses to take a pacifier, which I appreciate, she sucks on these two fingers all the time!

Viv gets down on the floor with Violet during tummy time to keep her company.

And then they lay there and watch Wizard of Oz together.

I'm so glad they get along!

Lots of stuff

I have been in a blogging funk this week so here's a little catch up. Vivian has figured out that she can fit in the cabinets on the new tv armoir.

Hey, whatever keeps her occupied right?

We went to Porter last weekend for my dad's retirement party. He's been a rural mail carrier for my whole life. It was a great night and a lot of people got up and did speeches and we gave dad this golden mailbox that the grandkids helped paint.
Aunt Mo immediately reaches for Violet whenever she gets the chance. Violet doesn't mind. Well, Addi and Marcy kind of fight over who gets to hold her.
Meanwhile, Vivian and Sophie are totally BFF's. They had so much fun together!

And I think I figured out where Violet gets her hair. My hair this morning. This is what it looks like when I sleep on it wet!
I know, random, but I guess that's the mood I'm in!

Comparison

Just thought I'd put a comparison pic of the girls around the same age. Definitely same eye shape. Viv's eyes are leaning more towards green these days and Vi's are very blue. The funny thing is that I thought Vivian had a lot of hair back then. I didn't know the meanin of the words baby wig yet.

Photography Friday Winner!

Thanks everyone that entered the photo contest this week, it's getting so fun for me each week and I hope you guys like it too. All the entries were so great, but there can only be one winner. The 1st place prize goes to the macro queen, Amy Nickerson! Click here to see her beautiful shot and let her know what you think! Great job Amy, I love how the focus is solely on the fly and everything else is blurred, very beautiful! Thanks for entering, see you all next week. I'm trying to come up with a theme for this Friday. If you have ideas, feel free to leave them in the comments.

Photography Friday - Up Close and Personal

This week's theme is Up Close and Personal. You can interpret this in your own way. The only rule is that is has to be an up close shot.

I love taking close shots, especially in the summer. I think I'm just too cold natured to venture out in the snow to get some close shots, even though I know that I would probably find a lot to shoot out there! Anyway, here's a shot I took this summer in my backyard.

We have a ton of the plants that smell like onions and they bloom with white flowers for a little while at the end of the summer and there are millions (well probably not millions, but a lot) of bees flying around. So while Matt was running and screaming into the house I was up close and personal with the bee to get a good shot!
Remember that anyone can enter, the picture has to be taken by you and please leave a link to your picture in the comments. A winner will be announced on Monday. Thanks to all who entered last week!
